OBJECTIVE: – How to use the electronics component diode and measures the forward and reverse voltage.
THEORY: – A diode is specialized electronic component with electrodes called anode and cathode. Most diodes are made with semiconductor materials such as Si, Ge, Se. Diode can be used as rectifiers, signal limiters, voltage regulators, switches, signal modulators, signal mixers, oscillators. The fundamental property of a diode is its tendency to conduct electric current is only one direction. When cathode is (-ve) charged, at a voltage greater than a certain minimum called break over, the current flows through diode. This voltage is “0.4V for Si”, “0.3V for Ge”, “1V for Se” devices. Semiconductor diode can be designed to produce direct current when visible light, UV light strikes them.
